Jonathan (Jon) Citron was born and raised in Maplewood and South Orange, NJ. He graduated from Columbia High School and went to Boston University where he gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Communications and a Master of Arts degree in Film Production.
After graduation, Jon took advantage of an opportunity to live abroad when recruited by the Peace Corps as a volunteer to become the Director of Film Production for the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, for two years in Morocco, North Africa. He was then recruited by USAID to participate in a two year ‘host country contract’ land management/animal husbandry program in Mali, West Africa. He finished his career in Africa with the World Bank at their headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Jon spent a total of five years on the African Continent.
Upon Jon’s return to the US, he was asked to participate and create a start-up business to provide alternative to incarceration programs for municipal, county, state, and federal courts by means of electronic offender monitoring. Around this time, Jon married his local high school sweetheart and moved back to Chatham, NJ where he and his wife, Sandy, started a family—he and Sandy presently live in Morristown. His son, wife and grandson live in Seoul, SK. Tired of living on the road out of a suitcase and wanting to be with his family, Jon had a conversation with a friend who suggested he try his hand at residential real estate.
Jon started his career in Millburn in 2002. Jon comes to Prominent Properties – Sotheby’s International Realty as a real estate buyer side specialist for The Gosselin Group, something he has been looking forward to doing for quite a while. Above all, Jon is a ‘people person’ and has developed his skills in the specialty of representing home buyers: he has the titles of Accredited Buyer Representative and Short-Sale and Foreclosure Representative. His passion is to help people find their dream homes and skillfully and patiently guide these buyers from the beginning of the process of purchase through to the closing on properties, and beyond. Jon’s knowledge of the business of real estate is complete and he is known as a skillful communicator, negotiator, and facilitator.
Jon’s other passions include writing for the theater; his plays have been produced locally and in New York City. Jon is an avid golfer, a connoisseur of fine dining, a bit of a jokester, and a lover of people and life in general. Jon speaks French.
